It is officially week 5 of the one room challenge. That means that next week includes all of the gorgeous room reveals! Almost everything is ready for the masculine, industrial office but I had to DIY a few finishing touches to layer in a sense of patriotism that the office was supposed to convey. I am so lucky that I was able to finish on time. On Tuesday, my computer went on the fritz and is in the repair shop as I write this. Forgive my shortness as I am writing from my phone! I will make it up next week with the reveal, I promise.
I finally found a red chalk paint that was the perfect shade for this project. Barn Red from Prairie Colors Chalk Finish Paints worked beautifully in finishing some of the accessories with the red white and blue theme!
When I was digging through boxes, I found some old encyclopedias that I inherited from my Grandmother. They are really out of date (like reader’s digest circa 1970) but I can’t bare to part with them. I have many fond memories of reading them as a child and the spines definitely show the wear. So I covered them in canvas cloth so I could give them to my son to read.
Last weekend as I was painting the red and blue accessories, our son mentioned that he wished he could give something to Daddy for his office. I totally agreed that being a father was important to my husband so it made sense to make him something. We designed this My Daddy, My Hero plaque together. I used the same telegram color as the antique desk and this time I distressed it lightly all over with special attention to the edges.
We are almost there! Here is what we have accomplished so far:
Clean Tarnish off the desk hardware
Go through Hubby’s memorabilia for shelves
Cover Books with Canvas
Paint American Flag Wood Art
See you next week for the final reveal!
