As we move into the new year, I always love these last few weeks where everyone takes the time to reflect back the highlights and milestones that happened. Queue the Boys II Men “Goodbye” song! …Too much? Maybe, but I get all misty eyed knowing my son is growing another year and thinking about all the inside jokes, reveals, and late night painting parties that hubby and I had this year with our plethora of home projects.
My “little” blog has grown quite a bit this year and I have YOU, my sweet readers, to thank for it. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for reading, commenting, sharing, and welcoming. Some of my greatest moments have been the projects you have shared with me! You will never know how humbled and grateful I am. Truthfully, sometimes that it is hard to hit that enter button knowing I am putting something out into the world. Will they like it? Was I funny or dumb? Will anyone ever read it? Does this come off as “look at me!” syndrome? Questions race through my mind often.
Sometimes, blogging can be a bit lonely when you staring at a computer screen trying to write a conversation. I can’t gauge how bored you are at the same story yet again. On the other hand, I am also SUPER excited to have made friends with some of the most amazingly talented and sweet people. I am inspired all the time by your creativity and organization. Though we have never met in person, I wish I could hug each and every one of you.
Ok, enough rambling. Here are the best of the best posts and projects from this year as ranked by pageviews. I only included those that were posted this year, and there is definitely a bias about projects from earlier in the year. If you include last year’s projects, the overall included Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Party, Overnight Oatmeal, and Adding Style to a Kitchen Makeover.
This little project surprised me because I hadn’t seen anything like it so I didn’t know if anyone would like it. Well, apparently you did! I have been caught up with so many big projects this year that it was nice to have an easy, 10-minute project.
This one makes my heart so happy. So much work went into this room and it is only the second full room I have been able to complete in the house. This was definitely one of the hardest ones to publish for me because I worried no one would like it. I was, thankfully, wrong.
For me, this is the most surprising popular post on the list. I guess a lot of people have ugly cabinets too.
I don’t get to do as many party ideas as I like since I don’t have that many occasions to throw them. This was so much fun and really budget friendly, though. I loved making the character cut-outs and the cityscape backdrop.
To be honest, I think the photography helped this one mostly. And the fact that football and nachos kind of belong together.
Making projects for my son’s bedroom is one of my favorite activities. I made this for him as a Christmas present last year and some of you have shared your wonderful wall art made from the files. I almost cry when that happens. Best feeling ever! If this weren’t in the Top 10, it would definitely be my favorite.
While I was creating my craft room, I posted some of the things I am inspired by and apparently you guys thought they were awesome too.
This was a post I almost didn’t publish. I just didn’t think it was that special, ya know? Don’t get me wrong, it is really tasty. In fact, these kabobs are a staple summer food at our house so I guess it is just plain ‘ol Wednesday dinner for us. Boy, was I wrong, though. This got shared on Facebook somewhere (thank you to whomever that was!) and took off like lightening.
My Personal Favorite (not on the list) – DIY Craft Supply Wall Organizer
I am so lucky to have a partner in my DIY adventures or many of my projects would never be completed. Even though I adore the project itself, the memory of building it is what puts it over the top. You see, Hubby is a morning person and I am a night owl. He is in bed at 8 pm. Even though I tell myself every night I will be in bed by midnight, that pesky clock has said 3 am (or even 4 am) more times than not. But on the night we built this, we were up laughing, dancing, and throwing sawdust into the air until 1 am. The best date nights for us often involve pizza for dinner and work clothes. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Now that was pretty nice, wasn’t it. Well, next year is going to be even more awesome I think.
Merry Christmas to all!
