I have so many changes happening in my life right now. It seems that everything I have been sacrificing and planning for the last few years is just around the corner. We are preparing to buy a house which is very exciting. I am also very excited for the launch of this website. I will get to share my newest projects, tips, thoughts and philosophies here.
So here is one of my recent mega-projects. We had our first big family vacation this summer. We loaded everyone up, including my parents, for a grand 5 night visit to Disney World in Orlando. It was an amazing trip jammed packed full of 3 parks, shows, food, and, of course, Mickey Mouse.
Although I usually do 12×12 formats, like the one shown above. I found that there were simply too many pictures I wanted to include in my album. In searching for a way to complete this album, I decided to use a project life format. For those not familiar with project life, you can find more information at Becky Higgins’ website http://www.beckyhiggins.com/products/what-is-project-life.php .
One design aspect I wanted for this album was color. I wanted the album to have a youthful fun feel. Red, Yellow, and Black are the traditional Mickey Mouse colors. However, since I wanted full color pictures, I needed some more variety. So I added a light blue and brown grey to the overall color scheme to soften it.
Preparing for trip
This is the first page of the album. It chronicles the time leading up to our trip. My son is four, and, we kept the whole trip a secret. Two days before we took our flight, “Tooddles” stopped by our house and delivered an invitation to our son to come visit Mickey at his home in Florida. The invitation included a personalized letter, his first set of ears, and a festive outfit to meet Mickey in. I didn’t know so much excitement could fit in such a little body!
There will be so much more to this album in the coming weeks and I’m glad to have a place to share it.
