Dark bananas work great and will have more banana flavor. If your bananas are green, you may want to add a bit more applesauce or ¼ cup extra banana.
Mash the bananas in a food processor, blender, or by hand. The mash should be slightly runny or thinner than mashed potatoes.
In a large bowl, blend oil, applesauce, and eggs, vanilla, sugars, and mashed bananas until smooth.
Whisk dry ingredients together and add to wet. Blend until just mixed. Stir in the chocolate chips.
Heat oven to 350. Using liners, spoon ¾ full in tins. Bake for 16-20 minutes for standard size. Muffins should feel soft and bouncy.
