I am so excited to partner with Hershey’s to share the amazing new Reese’s Spreads to make a great any-time snack recipe. These Peanut Butter and Chocolate Energy Bars are a convenient no-bake option that any Reese’s lover will enjoy. Opinions and recipe are my own.
I have a special treat for you today! Yes, I put the magically special peanut butter and chocolate combination that is Reese’s spreads into a delicious snack bar. If you are like me, your always on the lookout for good, quick snacks for you and your family. These energy bars are great for brown-bag lunches, after school snacks, midnight cravings, and even breakfast! So I know that you’re dying to figure out how to make it!
Have you seen this stuff? It’s not like the overly sugary Reese’s cereal. If you are a fan of Reese’s peanut butter cups, you really need to try this stuff. From toast to waffles, apples and bananas to pretzels and vanilla wafers, the new spread brings endless opportunities to enjoy the distinct taste that only Reese’s provides. I have said before that my husband is a much bigger fan of the combination of peanut butter and chocolate combination fan than me. But, I gotta say, I wanted to eat the whole jar. If you have followed me for a bit, you know that I lament any blogger who screams that everything they make is THE.BEST.EVER. (but this is pretty close, haha!) Ok, ok, back to the recipe…
Old-fashioned rolled oats and flax seed provide a good amount of fiber and texture to the bar. I mix in raisins, pretzels, and nuts to create a nice pairing of flavors for the Reese’s spreads. A little bit of honey for glue and sweetness and you’re ready to use those forearms.
Press in a pan, put in the fridge for 30 minutes, and slice. That’s it! My previous versions of these bars have always frozen very well for a quick snack but I have not tried them with the new spreads.
Energy Granola Bars with Reese’s Spreads
- 2 1/2 Cup Old Fashioned Rolled Oats
- 1/2 Cup Almonds or Peanuts
- 1/2 Cup Thin Pretzels
- 1/2 Cup Raisins
- 1 Tbsp Flax Seed
- 1/2 Cup Reese's or hershey's Spreads
- 1/3 Cup Honey
- In a food processor, add raisins, nuts, and pretzels. Chop to a coarse, diced texture. Add oats and flax seed and pulse a few times until blended. Move to a large bowl. Add the reese's spreads and honey. Mix with a spoon until the mixture is well incorporated and even. Place wax paper in an 8x8 pan and spoon mixture into it. Using the back of a spoon and your fingers, press the mixture evenly to the edges. Press down firmly on the bars and edges to release any air. Chill in fridge for 30 minutes. Slice bars as desired.
