Today, I solved two problems with an easy craft! I made a chalkboard powder room sign and I even have it available as a printable.
A few of the doors when we moved into the new house were badly damaged. I think this one took a baseball or something.
The other problem is when we have guests over. I love entertaining but everyone always asks where the bathroom is, and many end up confused in the office or coat closet. Now we have an easy obvious powder room sign for guests to easily find their way.
I found this great little black wood chalkboard piece at Kohl’s. When I got it home I found it to be just a wee bit too small. So I made a template and made it a 1/2 inch bigger all the way around. I wanted a fancy chalkboard sign and my handwriting is worse than most doctors. So I made a printable version and glued it to the front with spray adhesive. Craft glue causes too much stretching in paper for this type of project. I plan to seal it somehow but now sure what I want to use yet.
The Printable Version (square 8×8) is available for PDF download here – chalkboard powder room sign
I made it 8×8 to fit on a standard sheet of paper but if you would like a different size, drop me an email at Rachel@cravingsomecreativity.com and I will gladly send you a 10×10 jpg version.
After glueing the chalkboard sign on the front, I trimmed off the extra with an X-acto knife.
To hang it, I added a command strip to stick the sign to the door so the sign would not swing around and get damaged. Yes, I am totally more worried about damaging the sign than the door!
