TADA! I was looking at anthropologie when I came across these
insanely expensive cool wire word hangings as wall art. But there was no way this budget girl was dropping $40 on a simple wall decoration. The wire words were also too small for my taste. So, DIY it had to be! I knew I wanted to make my guests feel welcome and relaxed in the guest room so I chose the word “dream” for my wall art.
I purchased 25 feet of wire at lowe’s for $6. No fancy supplies necessary to bend the wire. The main trick to get the loopy cursive is gently bend as you work around the loop. That way, you won’t get kinks in the wire. I worked left to right and kept the word art as one piece. I used my kitchen tile as a straight edge to check that my letters were staying straight and evenly sized. About 20-30 minutes total time to bend the wire. I trimmed off the extra with wire cutters.
The underline flourish and bird images were made with my silhouette cameo. I designed the swallow images based off of a font I found and edited them to get the smooth look. The flourish underline is a $0.99 purchase from the silhouette store and scaled to the desired size.
Very happy with this simple wall art project and it looks much better in person. My camera had a very hard time distinguishing the contrast of the taupe walls with the silver wire.
