I’m sharing affresh® in my life as part of a sponsored series for Socialstars™ #affresh It saved my stove!
Have you ever wondered how to clean your ceramic glass cooktop or get a streak free shine like it was new? Today, I am showing how even the worst disasters can be saved when it comes to cleaning your ceramic glass cooktop.
When we first purchased our home, there were so many places that needed immediate fixing and cleaning. One of the most desperate items in the house was our damaged ceramic cooktop stove. The neglect and years of burned on food was awful.
Pardon the bad cell phone picture. It’s the only one I could find and hubby sent this one because he was so proud that he could actually see the original cook top. In some places, the gunk was piled on nearly a half an inch.
Anyways, at first, we thought the stove was unable to be saved. However, with a $2100 pricetag, we developed some major resolve to save the stove.
And here it is today! Along the way we learned how to maintain and clean glass stove tops from even the worst disasters including burned on food, melted sugar, and even the dreaded spaghetti sauce explosion. For this, you need the right cleaners for the job to be effective and efficient.
With a smooth glass cooktop, especially black, you definitely want to skip anything abrasive or one that leaves a hard to wash film like baking soda. For a streak free and sparkling cooktop that cleans with efficiency, I like to use affresh® Cooktop Cleaning Wipes. It is a specifically designed for glass ceramic stove tops. Each dual-sided wipe features a scrubber side to remove everyday residues and a smooth side to clean your cooktop with a streak-free finish when use as directed. What I like most about this product it that it not only works well, but it is easy to use.
- How to use:
- REMOVE wipe from pouch. Reseal.
- Glass/Ceramic Cooktop: WIPE on glass or ceramic cooktop surface. Use the textured side to scrub away daily surface residues. Smooth side should be used to polish.
- WIPE with soft, dry cloth. – this is important for a streak-free shine.
- DISPOSE of wipe when finished. Do not flush.
- ENJOY a clean and beautiful stove top.
A little elbow Grease, But Not Too Much
For more stubborn messes, I use affresh® Cooktop Cleaner. Recommended to us after trying several other products, this is the product that saved our stove and brought back the shine. It even comes with a special non-abrasive scrub pad that is safe for your cooktop. On a cool stove top and after removal of any loose dirt, squirt it on the cook top and rub and scrub around. Give it a few minutes to haze over and then clean off with a dry cloth.
Burned Beyond Recognition
As I said and you can see, our glass stove top was beyond neglected. Years of burned on messes had piled up and we were left with only one option: gently using a flat scraper. We tried almost everything. Yes, you can use a scraper blade on a glass ceramic stove top! However, reserve this method for the last resort disasters because you can scratch the surface if you aren’t careful. In the three years since saving the stove, we have used a flat razor scraper maybe once.
It took quite some time but was worth it when we didn’t have to replace the glass stove top. Even our friends and family were surprised how we have been able to bring back the shine on this stove. Honestly, we even surprised ourselves! Now I don’t have an embarrassing stove when guests come over for parties and holidays. Being able to save and actually preserve something that we thought a lost cause is pretty therapeutic, don’t you think?
