I am totally overboard that one of my blog friends, Rebecca at Dizmommy, invited me on a blog tour for a bit of the behind the scenes look here at Craving some Creativity. I have seen the blog tour running around and I am very happy to be a part of this week’s stop. Since I rarely write about blogging, you may not know what a blog tour is. Unfortunately, there are no rock bands or trains involved. Boo! But I do get to show off some of my own favorite blogs that I visit and get inspired from.
For anyone who hasn’t been over to visit Dizmommy, you really should because you will be hooked like I was. Her charm and honesty about trying to raise a little man in today’s chaos is beyond rocking. Of course, he adds his own chaos to the mix as boys always do. You will laugh, weep, and coo right along as you read.
Here are just a few of my favorite posts:
And now for the Behind the Scenes Look
What are you working on?
I would probably age a year just writing it all out. So the short version is I spend every weekend painting, cleaning, and decorating our new house. I am in a huge transition period. In September, I get to start working at home! I cannot even describe how happy I will be. Given that my personality is some sort of odd mashup between Pink and June Cleaver, I will be the most rocking stay at home mom ever! With freshly baked cookies, of course.
As for some of my upcoming projects, here are a few sneak peeks!
How does your work differ from others of your genre?
Oh toughie! There are so many creative geniuses on the internet. I suppose the fact that I have am starting from scratch on the house is one thing. In my adventures, I share the pretty, the in progress, and the “What the…?” Originality is important to me, especially in an environment of so many creative bloggers. Of course I get inspiration from others, and, yeah, there are only so many ways to paint a table, but I don’t want to be doing exactly what everyone else is doing.
Why do you write what you do?
Because my husband is really tired of me asking, “What do you think of this, honey?” Like bored to tears. Honestly, he probably knows more about scrapbooking than any red-blooded American male should.
Ok, now seriously, I have been a girl with a big imagination all my life. But ya know, art don’t pay and I like stability/money. So I went the easy route…medical research. I have always loved science and now that I have tasted success in that field, my heart is calling me back to my creative side. The blog is mostly a way for me to test the waters, keep my sanity, develop, and, meet cool peeps like me (or completely different from me).
How does your writing/creative process work?
Complete randomness is pretty much how I get ideas. My mom used to call me scatter-brained constantly. Somehow, I kinda make it work for me. There are a few steps though. First, I usually need to have pictures ready before I start writing. The pictures give me a direction. The first sentence is always the hardest!
Let me Introduce some Amazing Bloggers!
Crafty Side of Sarcasm – this girl makes me smile all the time! She is about as real and gracious as it gets. What I like most about visiting her blog is that it is always fresh and unexpected. It could be the perfect sugar cookie, fresh lifestyle thoughts that always inspire, or even a wonderfully done summer bucket list. Oh, and she has the most adorable chinchilla named Ruppert!
The Palette Muse – Meredith’s warm personality shines through her writing and projects. She is a wonderful artist and designer who puts together beautiful color pallets. I love her clever and budget friendly sense of style. Her talent and full life are fun to see and read!
My Paper Craze – The ladies of Papercraze, Glenna and Becky, truly work great together to being us wonderful crafts made with paper. I share their love everything made with the Silhouette Cameo. They share adorable gifts, fantastic tutorials, and clever holiday crafts. Careful though, you might develop a paper craft addiction too!
